Okay, so I may or may not be absolutely obsessed with Bethany Mota and if you don't know who she is, then you aren't living life the way you need to be. She's a YouTube vlogger who is not only beautiful and funny, but she is also a genius in creativity. In November, she posted a DIY holiday room décor video. In the video she made a clothes pin wreath that I immediately fell in love with. Below is my version that I made as a gift for Mother's Day for my grandma.
You will need:
You will need:
- Clothes Pins
- Wreath Form
- Acrylic Paint
- Paint Brush
- Newspaper
- Hot Glue & Hot Glue Gun
The first thing I did was place the wreath form on the newspaper. Squeeze some acrylic paint on the newspaper and begin to paint one side of your wreath form. Since I was outside and it was warm, the paint dried quickly. You'll have to do a few coats of paint to get the color to be somewhat opaque. It took me three coats. Don't worry if it's not perfect because the clothes pins will be covering most of it. I also painted the outer and inner sides of the wreath form.
I'd like to make a quick shout out to Alex Smith who is in the newspaper above, current NFL quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and former University of Utah Ute. Go Utes!
Back to the project, you'll want to paint the clothes pins. If you don't have the time to hand paint them like I did, then use spray paint. It took me a couple hours to paint mine even though I only did one coat of paint on each clothes pin. Just make sure that you paint where the wood will be seen.

Once everything is dry, it's time to glue the clothes pins to the wreath form. I placed my clothes pins out on the wreath form to make sure I had painted enough of them and to help me place them on the wreath once I put hot glue on them. I didn't put a lot of hot glue on the back of each pin, only about half an inch.
For an extra touch, I cut a piece of ribbon about 17 inches long and tied it in a bow. I attached it to a clothes pin with hot glue as well.
And there's the masterpiece! It will be hung on a wall, by a nail in that small hole you can see on the top of the wreath, for a decorative way to pin bills, cards, or photographs. I can't wait to give it to my grandma!
